CO2 and the Snails

These are my findings/experiences/thoughts and they should not be taken as gospel truth. I am not responsible in anyway for what may happen in your life as a fall-out of reading/following what I have to say here!

Those with bare discus tanks may not face a snail infestation problem But those with planted tanks.

No matter how much one tries, snails somehow make their way into planted aquariums and if they contain discus then the process to eradicate them is harder…. One can't use too much toxic stuff to get rid of them, in the fear of stressing out the fish!

Co2 injection in any form does have its benefits for planted tanks {the law of minimum applies here, but that's another story}, for discus tanks it has the added benefit of bringing down the PH gently, without the addition of acids etc. BUT

Snails do not seem to like this Co2 rich water and move into the top layer of water, which I suppose, is richer in oxygen. Makes it so easy to remove the snails! Of course this is not a one time job but if done regularly will get rid of the snails.
